Can I Order My Wedding Dress from India Without Traveling?

This is the question I receive most often from brides in the US, UK, Canada, UAE, and Australia. They have seen the work. They want the work. But they cannot fly to Jaipur โ€” not right now, maybe not at all before the wedding. And they are genuinely worried: Can I trust this process? Will my outfit actually fit? Will it arrive on time?

The answer is yes. And I want to walk you through exactly how it works, because after 16 years of doing this โ€” and serving clients across more than 50 countries โ€” I have built a process that makes distance irrelevant.

Who I Am, and Why This Matters

I am Kshitija, the founder and designer behind Rana's by Kshitija. I trained at NIFT Mumbai and have been working from our family studio in Jaipur since 2010. The studio itself was established in 2018, but the craft knowledge behind it goes back 55 years โ€” through my father-in-law's practice as a master craftsperson in Rajasthan.

I work personally with every bride. There are no middlemen, no junior executives managing your file. When you reach out to me, you are speaking directly to the person cutting, draping, and supervising your outfit. That is not a sales line. That is simply how I choose to work.

My specialisations include Bandhani (I source directly from artisan women in Sikar), Gota Patti, Zardozi, Leheriya, Aari embroidery, and traditional Rajputi Poshak โ€” the full breadth of Rajasthan's bridal craft vocabulary.

How the Process Works โ€” Step by Step

Step 1: We Begin on WhatsApp

Almost every client relationship starts here. You share reference images, describe your event, tell me your colours, your silhouette preferences, your budget, and your timeline. I ask questions. Lots of them. I need to understand not just what you want to wear, but where you are wearing it, who is in the room, and what story you want to tell.

This conversation is where the design begins for your custom bridal lehenga or saree โ€” not in a form, not in a catalogue.

Step 2: Measurements

I send you a detailed measurement guide with clear instructions and diagrams. You take your own measurements or visit a local tailor for help. For bridal outfits specifically, I ask for 12โ€“15 measurements depending on the silhouette. I review them, ask follow-up questions, and if anything seems inconsistent, I will flag it before we begin.

Most international brides are surprised by how smooth this step is. It requires care and patience from your side โ€” I provide everything else.

Step 3: Fabric and Design Confirmation

Before a single stitch is placed, I share colors, fabric details, embroidery references, and design illustrations over video call or WhatsApp. You see exactly what you are getting. You approve it. Only then do we begin production.

Step 4: Production in Jaipur

Your outfit is made in our Jaipur studio, using craft techniques passed down through generations. I personally supervise the work. I keep you informed on when the outfit will be done and as soon as any of the first pieces are available, I share pictures to show the look coming out โ€” so you are never left wondering.

Step 5: Trial by Video

We share pictures once everything is embroidered over WhatsApp or Video call and cross-check for measurements once again. We discuss the finishing style if being custom made. If adjustments/changes are needed, they happen before your real fabric is stitched finally. This is the step that eliminates the biggest risk in remote bridal commissioning.

Step 6: Shipping

I ship internationally via trusted, trackable couriers since 2010. Standard delivery timelines vary by destination, and I build these into your production schedule from day one. I do not make promises I cannot keep on timelines โ€” but I do plan meticulously. In rare cases, as it is 100% handmade, if there are any delays we keep you well informed but surely meet your event date well in advance.

What My International Brides Often Ask

"What if the outfit doesn't fit?"
This is why we always keep margins/seam allowance and extra stitches to easily open up. I also provide assistance for alteration if need be; you can connect me to any tailor in your city.

"How do I know the quality is real?"
I do not photograph my work with filters. The close-up embroidery images you see on my Instagram @ranas_by_kshitija and website are real, unedited documentation of the handwork. You can also request a video walkthrough of any specific piece before purchasing.

"Can I get something custom, or only what I see on your feed?"
Everything I do is created from 0, so we often customise. The feed is ready to purchase as is and also like a reference library. Tell me what you have in mind, and we will design it together.

"What is the timeline?"
For a bridal commission, I recommend reaching out at least 4โ€“6 months before your event. Rushed timelines are possible but add stress โ€” to the process and to you. Give us time to do the work properly.

This Craft Does Not Travel Well as a Compromise

There are faster options. There are cheaper options. There are options where you upload measurements into a form and receive a box three weeks later with no conversation in between.

That is not what this is.

What I do is special because it is exclusive โ€” exclusive in skill, in time, in personal attention, and in the 55-year lineage of craft knowledge that goes into every piece that leaves this studio. Brides who order from me are not buying a dress. They are commissioning something that carries Jaipur's craft history on its surface and their own story at its center.

Distance has never stopped that from happening. It will not stop it for you.

Ready to Begin?

Reach out to me directly on WhatsApp or through our contact page. Tell me your date, your vision, and your questions. We will take it from there โ€” one honest conversation at a time.
